Our 2013 Sauvignon Blanc beautifully walks the fine line between a classic White Bordeaux and the more ashy and exotic style often attributed to California. On the nose, the wine exhibits notes of bright lime, citrus, lemon grass, and fresh lemon-meringue. The palate follows accordingly with crisp acidity, stone fruits, and a nice round mouth feel lent from its time spent in French oak. The wine finishes clean, dry, and refreshing, and is perfect match for seafood and lightly spiced poultry.

In the glass, the wine exhibits a medium-dark color with a slight purple hue with bouquets of red fruit in the nose with subtle notes of anise and black cherry cola commonly found in Howell Mountain fruit. On the palate, black currant and raspberry notes dominate the fruit while supported by subtle tannins and spice that provides an elegant, balanced mouthfeel. In the finish, there are hints of hazelnut and dark fruit which linger for 30+ seconds. This wine can be drunk now or cellared for the next decade.

Dense and classically structured, our 2011 Petit Verdot leads with hauntingly dark and complex aromas of blackberry compote, violets, lavender, and sweet tobacco. On the palate the wine is beautifully textured and full, exuding avors of boysenberry, spicy dark chocolate, and subtle graphite. The wine finishes lifted and long with superbly balanced acidity and polished tannins. Although it is approachable now with a bit of air or a brief decant, this is a wine that is built to age, and will certainly reward those with the patience to wait.

It’s hard to keep away from now, as this wine is already showing very well, but those who wait will be rewarded tenfold.

Our 2013 Primitivo Clone Zinfandel bottling, is made from 100% Primitivo and is the newest addition to our Howell Mountain Vineyards portfolio. Often thought of as just another name for the Zinfandel grape (or a cousin to Zinfandel), Primitivo has actually genetically been shown to be a clone of the Zinfandel variety, and typically ripens a bit earlier than the latter. Medium in body with beautifully reddish coloring, this wine exhibits vivid aromas of wild raspberries, black cherries, baking spices, and cracked pepper. Lightweight and fresh the palate, this wine is balanced with bright acidity and spicy tannins. The wine finishes long and clean, with generous spices lingering on the tastebuds.

Our 2013 Old Vine Zinfandel derives from 101 year old vines and is clearly proud to be a Zinfandel as it leaps from the glass with heady aromas of wild raspberries, black plum, cherry cola, baking spices, cloves, and cracked pepper. Medium bodied with bright acidity and dusty tannins this shows wonderful aging potential as this Zinfandel blossoms with ample time in the glass - gathering palate weight and rounding out seamlessly. The wine finishes long and lifted, and begs for a second sip… and before you know it, the bottle is gone.
