95 points awarded to our 2018 Old Vine Zinfandel

We are pleased to announce that our Howell Mountain Vineyards 2018 Old Vine Zinfandel was awarded 95 Points from Wine & Spirits Magazine. Here’s what they have to say:

“Mike Beatty’s zinfandel parcel grows at an elevation of 1,800 feet, where the vines were planted at the turn of the 20th century. In 2018, those vines offered up Howell Mountain’s volcanic power with soothing gentleness and grace. At first, it fills the mouth with tannins, dry and austere, yet the chewy red fruit lasts and gives a lively, delicate impression. The flavors open several days after the bottle is first opened, a tangy array of red cherry, blueberry and blackberry, flavors that sustain their freshness in the company of the pungent volcanic earthiness. A high-elevation beauty, this has the substance and balance to age for a decade or more.” —J.G.
